Podcast #16: The End of the Innocence

Spider hosted a last minute call-in show this past Saturday where anyone could call in and talk about anything. Mitch, our voiceover guy, called in along with a special guest. Andrea joins in about halfway to lend her thoughts to things before being taken down by rabid Taco Bell.

Podcast #15: The Scarlet Letter is NOT an Instruction Manual

Spider & Andrea take on the Rush debacle, stupid laws, Christina Hendricks’ and Olivia Munn’s assets, then do a tribute to Saturday Morning Cartoons.

Better sound quality has arrived!

We finally bought some Blue Yeti mics and are loving them. The sound quality is leaps and bounds above what we had with our other mics and because of them we now enter a new era for our podcast.

No more poor quality audio when listening to us.*

Podcast fundraiser is a go!

Instead of always bitching about the sound quality we’ve been getting with our mic choices we have decided to do something about it with your help.

What We Need:

Blue Yeti mics seem to be the standard when it comes to USB audio for podcasting. Up until a week or so ago these mics were upwards of $200 each. They have now been halved in price over on Amazon and we’re feeling the need to get at least one, if not two.

The podcast is growing not only in quality but listeners and guests. We’re getting comfortable in our roles and look forward to many more episodes but the audio quality being off from podcast to podcast is driving us (read: Spider) insane, especially in post. We hate putting out anything inferior because we know it is distracting and making it so that some people won’t listen to us.

Where you come in:

We want your money but not for free. We want to make sure you get something out of this besides better audio quality on a self-admitted mediocre podcast.

Therefore we wish you to visit our Amazon Store and purchase something. Anything. Whatever is there is available for sale at this very moment and will be shipped within two days of ordering it.

No, we can’t meet the prices pawn shops have for some of the items listed. They sell in such a quantity that they make their money that way; we try to sell in quality. We make true gradings on quality (sometimes lower than it actually is) of the items listed. There are DVDs, CDs, games, books, comics and more ranging from used to new.

The proceeds will be put in a fund to buy a Blue Yeti to enhance the podcasts we put out. If you tweet us a screen grab of the order completion screen or email confirmation showing that you bought from us we will include a special note with your order (at your request).

Yeah, we get it, we aren’t celebrities by any means but you are the supporters we have and we love and appreciate each and every one of you. YOU are the ones who make it so that we keep podcasting even through all the audio problems. YOU are the ones who gave us a chance, shared us with your friends (kinky), and spread the word allowing us to say hello to listeners as far away as Japan, Germany, and Great Britain as well as all those listeners in the States and Canada. Each time I (Spider) look at our states I see a new area show up in the downloads; a new state or province, a new city or metro, a new country or village.

We are growing and there will be changes coming in the next month or so (including a new, easier to remember and say name and website dedicated solely to the podcast) and all of our listeners are the reason it is happening.

We’re asking for a little bit more but we aren’t expecting it. We get times are tough; we aren’t rich either. If we were we would have had our own studio and high end equipment to record these things on from the get go but we make do. We want to make sure you get something out of the deal so that neither of us feels bad about this; we don’t feel bad about taking free money and you don’t get buyer’s remorse.

So, again, to reiterate for the last time, visit our Amazon Store and buy something so that we can grow and your enjoyment of our podcast can grow.

Thanks and see you in the stream.

Spider N. Mann

NOTE: Yeah, I’ll be getting your addresses to be able to ship this stuff as well as your real names but don’t worry as we won’t be selling any of that information to anyone for any reason. We will only keep it on file for tax purposes (required in our state) behind Amazon’s gateway. Nothing is kept locally.

Also; these aren’t tax deductible donations as they aren’t donations, they are transactions.

Podcast #14: Rage of the Thespian 2 – Electric Interference Boogaloo

Ben Tallen makes his return to the podcast to discuss his latest theatre shows, why online gaming sucks, how a Fandango for theatre would be awesome, and during all of it him and Spider come up with million dollar TV show ideas.

NOTE: Skype crapped out on us near the end and you will hear some weird echo on Spider’s voice. A small portion of the original podcast was cut due to this but a quick hang-up and callback fixed the issue enabling us to finish out the podcast. Elsewhere you will hear Skype issues on Ben’s voice.

In other words: blame Skype.
