What happens when a guy goes from some of the crappiest pop made to hard rocking? He gets compared to Jimi Hendrix.
Lenny Kravitz - Are You Gonna Go My Way
Lenny Kravitz has had an interesting career with the charts. Besides being called Mr. Lisa Bonet (don’t remember her? she was the hot Cosby kid) he had a hit with this annoying song:
Yeah, that is him. Is it any wonder people had pretty much written him off as being nothing but a coattail riding idiot?
Kravitz decided to change track and go to rocking his dreads instead of swaying them slowly back and forth. He released Are You Gonna Go My Way, both the album title and single of the same name. He would keep rocking until he decided to go all religious.
The title track is the only track I have kept from this whole album. It does bring back memories of Hendrix in the guitar sound, but Kravitz is nowhere near Hendrix and the comparison should stop right here. Kravitz is talented enough without being smacked down for his guitar playing.
A keeper of a song as it is one of only a few that Kravitz has done that I enjoy.
